Sure, it is missing some personal favorites, but every song here is first rate, and the tracks flow through the years revealing the organic evolution of their sound. Finally, the dream come true box set ABB fans have waited many years for. Very satisfied. ABB was truly one of America's finest bands. The 5-CD edition is packaged in a 12-panel softpack with a visually distinctive slipcase and includes an 88-page booklet. The packaging is horrible, though. All of the CDs are in a big, fold-out cardboard box, and each disc is deep in a sleeve built into the box making it very difficult to remove the discs.
CD number five had a couple of minor scratches on it. I^ve seen THis Group 12 Times and Gregg Allman Solo 4 Times . Can't cost much or take much effort to assure the discs won't get scratched. The recording has remained unreleased until now, kicking off this 50th anniversary collection. I've been listening to the Brothers for 48 years and have all but the previously unreleased tracks included here, and although a few of my personal favorites are absent--a minor lament--this is an extraordinarily well-chosen collection of selections. Really shameful packaging for an otherwise excellent set. Unlike 2016’s limited-edition It’s a bit clumsy: ‘The Capricorn Years 1969 – 1979 Part III’ and ‘The Arista Years 1980 – 1981’ are on one disc, and the track list reflects the compilers’ desire for solid representation rather than focusing on the early highlights. This ABB set is definitely 5 stars but I took a star off for the inconvenience of having to clean every disc (equal parts of rubbing alcohol & distilled water) before I could play them. I put these new CDs in separate CD cases, thus my CDs are not scratched. A complete retrospect of the Brothers from start to finish and all together in one set. The Allman Brothers Band's first jam together- and last song performed together-was a Muddy Waters song "Trouble No More" which also became their first demo'd track. Rest assured there are absolutely no duds to slow the flow, the programming of which is excellent.
