Heathcote to Audley Passing through scrub and heath, this track goes into the Royal National Park along a well managed bush track, passing great pools and sections of creek at Karloo Pools and Uloola Falls. The Karloo Track follows the bush track from Heathcote Railway Station east, into the Royal National Park, to a great set of waterholes on Kangaroo Creek. Distance. The walk takes about 4 hrs 30 mins (11.3 km One way), and heads though the delightful Royal National Park. This whole walk, 2.8km is not usually affected by severe weather events (that would unexpectedly impact safety and navigation).This whole walk, 2.8km has limited facilities (such as not all cliffs fenced).Passing through scrub and heath, this track goes into the Royal National Park along a well managed bush track, passing great pools and sections of creek at Karloo Pools and Uloola Falls. At Calala you will find a large clearing and natural shade from some large trees, there is also access down to a small beach on the side of the shallow Hacking River. Water flows across the ledge pretty fast before it drops into Karloo Pool and can be dangerous.Karloo Pool receives a few hours of direct sunlight in the warmer months so pack a picnic and make a day of it.There is plenty of space on the rock ledges on both the sunny and shady sides of the pool, so you can get as much sun as you like in summer.The sun dips below the tree covered ridge to the north in the colder months and Karloo Pool is shaded.As well as Karloo Pool there are plenty of other places to swim or sit in the water (unlike the very popular Follow Kangaroo Creek downstream, east towards Audley, or south towards Waterfall for more natural swimming pools. The walk continues to the peaceful campsite at Uloola Falls and then along a service trail, to Waterfall Railway Station. If the water’s deep enough, also allow enough time to dip your toes in Heathcote Creek. Shortly after, this turns to the north and goes behind the Rural FIrefighting Station (Emergency Services Centre), then the track turns back to the east and continues along the bush track. It’s deceptively high and at one point you are nearly 150m above the water below you.Just before you start to descend, head off the track to the right for fantastic views of the valley below you to the south east.As an alternative to walking to Karloo Pools and back as a loop walk, you may want to consider continuing on to Uloola Falls. Here's There are toilets at Heathcote Train Station. This walk not only goes to the magnificent falls but has the optional side trip down to the beautiful South West Arm Pools. The walk goes via a beautiful set of waterholes and rock flats at Karloo Pools. Walks near this image. The remaining (200m) follows a smooth and hardened path.Around 1.6km of this walk has directional signs at most intersection, whilst the remaining 1.1km is clearly signposted.Around 2.6km of this walk requires some bushwalking experience, whilst the remaining 200m requires no previous bushwalking experience.

With some lovely rest spots at both of these places (especially with the toilet at Uloola) this walk is very pleasant. 2 hours return. This short walk starts near the Willow Tree Picnic Area (near Audley). The walk is mostly downhill, except for some flat ground.

A popular trail for those wanting a well-signposted bush track, and a great place to swim.

Karloo Pools lies at the junction of Kangaroo Creek, Heathcote Brook and The Karloo Walking Track. This walk ventures into central Royal National Park along a well maintained bush track. It is surround by rocks and bush.

Turn right and continue past the Rural Fire Service (RFS) building on your left.There are some obvious shortcuts starting near the RFS building but if you’ve never walked the Karloo Pools track before, stay on the road until you see the sign on your left.Follow the signed track for several hundred metres behind the RFS building and some houses until you see another signed track junction on your right.
