flash is savitar

The Flash Season 3 big bad, Savitar, bears almost no resemblance to his DC Comics counterpart. Here's a look at the original version of the evil speedster, the CW version and how much they diverge. The original Savitar, created by Mark Waid and Oscar Jimenez, first appeared in 1995's He returned decades later, finding a world in which his cult and the amount of speedsters had dramatically increased. This could be in reference to a murderous future version of The Flash introduced during the New 52, who again traveled back in time after suffering a great tragedy. The idea of a Flash turned dark by the loss of his wife is similar to Walter West, a mirror of Wally West. He is run down by the recently returned to life Barry Allen; however, when Barry touches him, Savitar disintegrates, leaving only a pile of bones. A one-stop shop for all things video games.
When these proved ineffectual, he sent more to kill the other speedsters: Impulse, Jay Garrick, Johnny & Jesse Quick, XS and Max Mercury. In search of more knowledge, he sought out the only super speed hero operating at the time: Johnny Quick. However the prime Barry failed to defeat Savitar who slaughtered all the time remnants except for this one.

This encounter became a battle, the tide of which was turned with the arrival of Max Mercury, who led Savitar toward the Speed Force, but caused him to bounce off. Savitar's existence was finally explained during Tuesday's episode of The Flash — but it might be a bit confusing, so we've tried to break it down as best as possible.

Savitar's blue lightning also matches the blue costume of Future Flash.Another huge influence was Daniel West, the New 52 Reverse Flash. Savitar is able to escape from the Speed Force.

Savitar explains that he is a time remnant of Barry, created by his future self while fighting Savitar.

As he reached top speed, his plane was struck by what appeared to be lightning, and he went down in hostile territory.

After being shunned by Team Flash, the time remnant became depressed and ran back in time to ultimately become Savitar. Savitar is the Flash from the future and that’s why he can not kill Barry. Thus far, Savitar, Lady Savitar and Johnny Quick have been killed by this effect. Even his appearance was different, with his armored suit bearing an uncanny resemblance to the 2007 live action Savitar's tragic backstory was a combination of various evil Flashes. Hell bent on at least destroying Flash’s world in retribution, he led the Flash on a worldwide race of destruction, until Flash chose to give Savitar what he wanted: union with the Speed Force. Savitar was one of the many time remnants of the original Barry Allen/The Flash from a possible future in the year 2020 or 2021 in the Post-Flashpoint timeline, created to help him fight his enemy Savitar in vengeance for killing their fiancee Iris West. The real Iris finally took Savitar out herself, shooting him and erasing him from the timeline for good. The CW's Savitar, name aside, had almost nothing in common with the original character. He can protect himself in a null inertia force field, give speed and kinetic energy to objects or people, even those in a rest state, and could also heal his own injuries almost instantly. Not because he wants to see him suffer, but would be killing himself. He then used her powers as a catalyst to strip most of Earth's speedsters of their link to the Speed Force, transferring their speed to the Thunderbolt Agents. The mouth of the suit can open as if an actual mouth, and there are two retractable blades at the wrists. He also reappeared years later in the The CW, unlike with their adaptations of the other Reverse Flashes, heavily altered Savitar. This caused a split timeline, with Savitar's divergent timeline seeing the real Barry trapped in the Speed Force and the disfigured copy shunned for not being the real person. Savitar also states in one episode that he's the "future Flash." This sent him back in time to ruin Barry's life, appearing throughout history to bolster the myth that he was the original speedster. A Cold War pilot for a third-world nation, the man who would become known as Savitar was to test a supersonic fighter jet. It is revealed that Reverse Flash altered the Speed Force and Barry to make the Flash shift in reverse, and cursed to kill every Speed Force user with a single touch, though it seemed to be undone by the defeat of Reverse Flash during the conflict between the two speedsters. Savitar. He teamed up with the former Lady Flash to steal speed for the Flash family, but Wally West's connection to the Speed Force prevented this plan from being completed. This plan seemingly worked, until it was revealed that "Iris" was actually one of the various versions of Harrison Wells in disguise. Savitar also states in one episode that he's the "future Flash."
