Data analysis will be emphasized in this course.This course will cover the basics of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), when to use different reconstruction methods, and the correct techniques to determine information described on original survey data for the Public Lands.Explores the importance of various laws dealing with the survey of land boundaries, and the State and Federal laws about ownership and title.Coursework includes current industry mapping techniques and equipment as it relates to environmental issues such as wetlands mapping and habitat restoration.Students will collect static GPS data with the available GPS receivers, and process those data using the National Geodetic Survey’s Online Positioning Users’ Service.
